Homecoming 2023

This year’s homecoming week started off with a bang on Tuesday with the Surf’s Up Sophomores. Students wore their best Hawaiian attire while sporting leis and sunglasses. The courtyard was filled with beach balls and palm trees and we almost forgot that it wasn’t summer anymore.

On Wednesday, the Juniors in the Caribbean showed up with some grit. Dressed in eyepatches and pirate gear, the Juniors made us feel like Captain Jack Sparrow was going to make an appearance in the courtyard. Instead, we were graced with Captain Mary Fran McCammon being cheered on by students and walking the plank into the crowd.

On Thursday, the Super Bowl Seniors put on an unforgettable show for the entire school. The seniors made it clear that it was their last year by going all-out with their incredible decorations and halftime show performance. Rhianna made an appearance and Coach Huntsberger, the Pirate, was tackled by Coach Miller, the football player.

On Friday, the Funky Freshmen ran out to the Cha Cha Slide and got a little funky. In spite of the heavy rain showers on Thursday night, the freshmen came together to make their first homecoming experience memorable. The freshmen class had the most participation in terms of decorating and their determination has not gone unnoticed.

Throughout the week, students participated in community service and collected cans to be donated to the Greenwood Food Bank. Overall, we collected 753 cans. Let’s give our students a hand!

The homecoming competition results.

Special thanks to Ms. Phillips, Mrs. Shay,  Mrs. Fancher, Mrs. Godwin, Coach Miller, and Ms. Whittle for sponsoring SGA and making everything come together this week. Shout out to Tony Boone who was a tremendous help every day of the week by climbing on the roof and hanging banners for our students.
