In an effort to maintain strong student attendance at athletic events while in the midst of ongoing budget constraints, Emerald High School and Greenwood High School are introducing a Student Gate Pass for the 2025-2026 school year. The pass, available for $75, will allow students entry to all regular-season athletic events at their home school throughout the school year.
Superintendent Shane Goodwin stressed the importance of continuing to encourage student involvement and school spirit in spite of financial constraints.
“Our students attending athletic events at both of our high schools illustrate the pride and passion for athletics at each of our high schools,” Goodwin said. “We are continually searching for ways to navigate our budget limitations. The Gate Pass ensures students still have an opportunity to support their classmates and enjoy our athletic programs at a reduced and reasonable price. Our high schools have researched other schools in the surrounding area, and this price is comparable and in some cases more affordable than other schools.”
The Student Gate Pass will be available for purchase throughout the school year. Students must present both their pass and their student ID at the gate for admission. Students who have not purchased a pass will be required to pay regular admission prices: $8 for Varsity Football games and $7 for all other regular season events.
Please note that the Student Gate Pass does not cover playoff games, jamborees, or tournaments.
If a pass is lost or stolen, a replacement will be available for $10.
