VALERIE WARREN

Valerie Warren, a 1996 graduate of Greenwood High was an outstanding basketball player.  She played a very important part in our team winning the Upper State Championship in 1994 and back to back State Championships in 1995 and 1996.  As a sophomore she was voted the Most Outstanding Defensive Player, as a junior she received the 110% Award, and as a senior was voted the Most Valuable Player.  Twice Valerie was named to the All Region Team.  Upon completion of her high school career, she accepted a full scholarship to Erskine College.  She was named the Conference Freshman of the Year in 1997 and three times was named the team’s Most Valuable Player.  She is fourth All Time in both rebounding and scoring at Erskine.  In 2000 she was named the recipient of the Todd Award, which goes to the college’s Most Outstanding Student-Athlete.  The award is based on sportsmanship, leadership, athletic ability, character, and academic standing.
