TANNER CRONIC

 

 

Tanner Cronic, a 1980 graduate of Greenwood High, was an outstanding all around athlete but excelled in Track.  He lettered four years in Track and was twice Captain of the team.  He was a three time Most Valuable Performer in the Field Events.  In 1979 Tanner was second in the Long Jump at the State Meet and third in the Triple Jump.  In 1980 he won the Triple Jump at the State Meet with a jump of 50 feet 3 ½ inches; the top high school jump in the USA during 1980.  He was named All State Track in both 1979 and 1980.  Tanner received a Track scholarship to the University of Florida, where he was a four year letterman and was captain and Most Valuable Field Events Performer for the 1985 Team.  He won the 1984 Southeastern Conference Triple Jump with a jump of 51 feet 11 ¼ inches, and that same year was named to the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll.  Tanner currently has the University of Florida’s #3 All Time Indoor Triple Jump and the #2 All Time Outdoor Triple Jump.
