   STEVE LLOYD

 

Steve Lloyd, a 1978 graduate of Greenwood High, was outstanding in both baseball and football.  He was a three year starter on the baseball team, pitching and playing first base.  He was a three year letterman in football.  He started at offensive tackle on the 1976 State Championship team as a junior, and was the captain of the 1977 team.  In 1977, Steve was chosen All Region, All State, and to the South Carolina Shrine Bowl team.  He received an athletic scholarship to Furman University where he played both baseball and football.  He pitched on the baseball team for two years, and was a four year letterman, three year starter, on the football team.  While playing at Furman, the team won three Conference Championships and twice Steve was named to the All Southern Conference Team.  He was Furman’s Most Valuable Offensive Lineman in 1981.  Steve is tremendously involved in the GHS Athletic Booster Club and serves as Chairman of the yearly golf tournament.
