COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Greenwood's defense held Conway to just

eight rushing yards as the Eagles won the Class Four-A Division Two

title with a 14-to-7 victory.

Greenwood scored on the first possession of the game and their

defense dominated as the Eagles stretched the lead to 14-to-nothing

on Jay Spearman's 12-yard T-D pass to Chris Floyd with 4:29 left in

the third.

Conway responded with a 12-play, 86-yard drive capped by

Derrick's 16-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Wallace on the first

play of the fourth quarter that cut the Eagles' lead to 14-to-7.

The Tigers had one last chance after Greenwood fumbled the ball

on the Conway 46 while trying to run out the clock with 1:23 to go.

But a fourth down pass from the Greenwood 27 with 15 seconds left

fell incomplete.

Greenwood coach Shell Dula has now won six state titles in his

30-year career, including three during his ten years with the

Eagles.

Conway has made the title game four times this decade, but never

won.
