Geometry

I hope this will be a great semester for each of you. Success to me is doing your own personal best. In an effort to make your parents/guardians feel a part of your progress, I will send a grade summary sheet after each chapter test for their signatures. These summary sheets should come about every two to three weeks. If you do not receive one, ask for it. This signed summary will give you extra credit points on the first chapter test.

Supplies Needed:

• 3 ring notebook & dividers
• Notebook Paper
• Pencils (no work will be accepted in pen)
• Scientific Calculator
• Open mind

Topics to be covered:

· Points, Lines, Planes, and Angles

· Reasoning and Proof

· Parallel and Perpendicular Lines

· Congruent Triangles

· Polygons and Quadrilaterals

· Proportion and Similarity

· Right Triangles and Trigonometry

· Circles

Classroom Rules:

• Students should bring supplies daily.
• Students should be in their seats working on the warm up when the tardy bell rings. If they are not, then they will be considered tardy.
• Students should be respectful of others by raising their hands before speaking and not talking when someone else is speaking.
• Students should not talk among themselves when the announcements are on.
• Students have 3 restroom passes every 9 weeks. Extra credit is added if all 3 are not used!
• Students should not leave their seats at the end of the class period until dismissed by the teacher.

Subject Policies:

• Homework is assigned daily with the exception of some Fridays. It will only be accepted on the day that it is due (the next class period).
• All work should be written in pencil and kept in the student’s notebook.
• Make-up work must be completed within one week of the student’s return to school and at the convenience of the teacher. It is the responsibility of the student to inquire about make-up work. Any make-up work not made up within one week will receive a grade of 0!
• Grade sheets will be sent home after each chapter test. This allows parents to be informed at all times and ensures that students are constantly aware of their grade standing. Students should use grade sheet information to make desired adjustments.
• Grades are broken down as follows:

o Chapter Tests 40%

o Quizzes 40%

o Homework 20%

Extra Help:

• It is imperative that you do all of your homework to be successful in math. I am available each morning from 8:00 to 8:20 and every afternoon from 3:30 to 4:00 to provide extra help upon request.
