ROBIN CARY

Robin Cary, a 1969 graduate of Greenwood High, excelled in both football and baseball.  He was a three year varsity letterman in football and quarterbacked the 1968 team to the State Championship.  Following the season, Robin was chosen to participate in the Shrine Bowl game, was named AAAA Back of the Year, All State, and to Parade and Sunkist All American teams.  In baseball, he lettered four years and was a member of the 1966 State Championship and the 1969 State Runner-up teams.  He also played on three Greenwood Post 20 American Legion State Championship teams.  In 1969, he was drafted by the New York Mets, but accepted an athletic scholarship to the University of Alabama.  He lettered three years in football and was a member of the 1973 National Championship team.  A 68 yard punt return against the University of Tennessee helped to win the game and preserve their unbeaten season.  Robin was named All Southeastern Conference in baseball for three consecutive years, 1972-1974.
