·        3 Sport Athlete – Football, Basketball, Track

 

·        3 Year Letterman in both Football and Track

 

·        Co-Captain of both Football and Track Teams

 

·        Received the Best Back Award for 3 Years in Football

 

·        Scored 33 Touchdowns during his High School Career

 

·        Played in the 1952 Shrine Bowl Football Game

 

·        Chosen to the Charlotte Observer’s All South Carolina High School Team

 

·        Most Valuable Player in the 1952 North / South All Star Game

 

·        Received a Football Scholarship to Attend the Citadel

 

·        3 Year Letterman and Football Team Captain at the Citadel

 

·        Selected to the All Southern Conference Team

 

·        Received the Best Back Award at the Citadel

 

·        For 48 years had held the Citadel Record for Punt Returns Average

 

·        In Addition, at one time he held 3 other Citadel Records.  Still Ranks Number 3 on Yards per Carry and Number 4 All Time on Average Kickoff Returns

 

·        Member of the Citadel Athletic Hall of Fame

 

·        Member of St. Mark United Methodist Church

 

·        A Boy Scout Leader and Little League Coach for 10 years

 

·        Retired from Sears, Roebuck & Company after 37 years in Management
