·        1952 Honor Graduate of Greenwood High School

 

·        Earned Nine Letters in Football, Basketball, and Track

 

·        1951 Honorable Mention All State Team and Captain of the Greenwood High Football Team

 

·        Selected to play in 1951 Shrine Bowl Football Game, but elected to go with the GHS Team to Pensacola, Florida to play in the “Paper Bowl”

 

·        Won Sportsmanship Award for 3 Years

 

·        Senior Year voted Most Athletic Student and received the “Bailey Military Award” for being the Most Thoughtful to Others

 

·        Played on the 1948 and 1949 State Championship Teams

 

·        Scored 11 Touchdowns in 1951

 

·        Held GHS Track record for both the Shot Put and High Jump for several years

 

·        President of the Block “G” Club

 

·        Received a Full Athletic Scholarship to Clemson University

 

·        Played and Lettered on Clemson’s 1958 Sugar Bowl Team

 

·        Member to Track Team at Clemson University

 

·        One of two Clemson Players named to the ACC Honor Role in 1958

 

·        Played Football in the U.S. Army for two years

 

·        Life Time Member of the Anderson Hospital Blood Bank
