·        Received Athletic Scholarship to attend Furman University

 

·        Lettered in Football for 3 years at Furman

 

·        Named All State in 1936 and played on the last Furman Team to beat Clemson

 

·        Named to the Furman University Hall of Fame

 

·        41 Years as a High School Coach and Athletic Director – 39 of these at Greenwood High (1943-1981)

 

·        336-81-23 Record at GHS with 9 State Championships

 

·        In 39 Years at GHS only had 2 Losing Seasons

 

·        S.C. Coach of the Year 4 Times

 

·        Greenwood Rotary Club Man of the Year

 

·        Head Coach in S.C. / N.C. Shrine Bowl and North / South All Star Football Games

 

·        First High School Coach to be inducted into the S.C. Athletic Hall of Fame

 

·        First High School Coach inducted into the Helms Foundation Hall of Fame

 

·        Inducted into the National Federation Hall of Fame in 1977 in Los Angeles, Ca.

 

·        Charter Member and Past President of the National High School Athletic Coaches Association and the S.C. Athletic Coaches Association

 

·        Member of First induction Class of the S.C.A.C.A. Hall of Fame

 

·        A Loyal Husband, a Dedicated and Loving Father and a great Ambassador for Greenwood, S.C.
