Math Tech III class is the tech prep level Geometry class.  I will often just refer to it as Geometry class.  This class will have homework most afternoons.  This homework will be assigned with the plan for about 15 to 20 minutes of time required to complete the assignment.  I will check each day to make certain the assignment has been completed.  Please put in the time to do the homework.  Homework is the only method in math to make certain students understand one skill before another skill is attempted. 

 

This class will have two projects per nine weeks.  These projects will be done using out of the class time.  No class time will be spent on the projects.  Students need to be very aware of the due dates for these projects and not wait until the last minute to complete the assignment.  The projects will be assigned with at least two weeks notice.

 

Each class period will start with an opener.  These openers will cover a variety of skills.  The openers will be completed each day and the correct answers gone over.  At the end of the skill grouping a short assessment will be the next day’s opener.  The opener problems for the entire skill group will be taken up and graded for correctness.  Also, the work (steps) for each problem should be visible.  Each skill grouping should last approximately one week.

 

I am available before school (8:00 – 8:20) and after school (3:35 - 4:00) for extra assistance.  I strongly encourage students to take advantage of this opportunity.  Problems can often become worst because a student will not ask for the extra assistance and the situation “mushrooms” on the student.  I can often clear up these situations quickly in a one-on-one setting.
