Marcia Young presented a list of current Booster
members and encouraged participation.
Mrs. Jolly and Marcia explained that each Choral student will be
responsible for a $30 fair share. Each
student can pay this amount or take care of it through fundraising
opportunities given throughout the year.
The students will also have the ability through fundraising to have
money applied toward costumes and the Spring Choral Trip to NYC.
The money raised will be used as credit only toward
these things. The money cannot be redeemed as cash or transferred to another
student and cannot be transferred from one year to the next. Marcia will be
keeping a record of credit for each choral student.

Pine Straw Sales
Rhonda Flowe gave an update
for the upcoming Pine Straw fundraiser. The kick off date will be October 10th,
which will be our next Booster Club meeting.
Forms will be made available at this meeting for students and
parents. Forms will then be made
available in class the next day. The pine straw will come from Georgia Pinestraw. The turn
in date for the money and forms will be Friday October 21st and
Thursday, November 9th which is Coffee House night. The charge per bail will be $4.50 and Georgia
Pinestaw will be charging approximately $3.00/bail
based on whatever the fuel surcharge is and the number of trucks it takes to
deliver the pine straw. Each student will
be responsible for the delivery of the pine straw they sold. For incentive, the
top three sellers will receive credit as follows:
Top Seller 1st place $50 credit to student
choral account
Top Seller 2nd place $30 credit to student
choral account
Top Seller 3rd place $20 credit to student
choral account
It was then mentioned that we will need people to help
take the pine straw off the truck around 7:00 or 8:00am Saturday morning.
After the pine straw discussion, Mrs. Jolly stated
that details concerning Candle sales would come at a later date.
Coffee House/Lisa Genson
Lisa Genson told the members
that Coffee House date was scheduled for Thursday November 9th at
7:00 p.m. and Mrs. Jolly stated that Freshman Singers, Advanced Chorus, and
Show Choir would all be taking part in Coffee House. It was mentioned to the
members that the performance would take place in the Cafeteria as in previous
years and that this year a sample dessert plate would be prepared. Coffee and
water would be served for drink. Volunteers will be needed after school to
decorate. Students will pre-sell tickets
at $6.00/person. Members can refer to the Choral Booster Membership guidelines
for reserved seating arrangements. (This can be viewed on the GHS choral web page)
Mention was made that a committee chair and sub committees would need to be
chosen soon in order to take care of decorations, ticket sales, and food. Mrs.
Jolly asked how many people could be seated in the cafeteria. It was stated in
the meeting that the cafeteria could seat around 300 people. The Choral
department also has some decorations if they are needed. A volunteer list is being put together by Pam
Thompson who will be emailing board members and Mrs. Jolly with a copy. It was discussed
that easy money could be made by having a table set up the night of Coffee
House for a 50/50 Raffle. Each ticket sold would need to have the students name
put on it at the time of purchase in order to know what student would get
credit. ¼ of proceeds go to the choral department, ¼ credit would be given to
the student whose name was on the ticket, and the remainder of the proceeds to
the person with the winning ticket number.
