GHS CHORAL BOOSTERS CLUB MEETING

October 10th, 2006

The GHS Choral Boosters Club Meeting began with the discussion of our current fundraising projects.

Pine Straw

Marcia Young began by saying that the second turn in date for pine straw would be at Coffee House, which is on November 9th.  The last day to turn in orders is November 10th. The question was brought up concerning what would happen if students had already paid dues for the NYC trip and then raised money. Mrs. Jolly said that the Choral Department would be fair and that the parent would be reimbursed. Pick up date for pine straw will be the Saturday the 18th by noon. Students are responsible for picking up the pine straw that they sold. A table will also be set up for pine straw money to be turned in at Coffee House.

Candle Fundraiser

Lisa Genson stated that the Candle Fundraiser would begin on November 14th. This is a 50/50 profit fundraiser. The students can earn half the profit of the sale of the candle with this fundraiser. The turn-in date will be December 1st in order for the candles to be back by Christmas. The company is Home Interiors.

Coffee House

The Booster Club member attention was then turned to the discussion of Coffee House which is coming up soon. Coffee House will be Thursday, November 9th. Lisa Genson stated that the catering would be done by the cafeteria and that it would include everything but decorations. Tickets will be $6.00 and the cafeteria cost per person would be $2.50/person. Tickets will be pre-sold. There are approximately 350 seats available. Mrs. Jolly stated that the sample plate that was originally discussed will not be done due to liability reasons, so it was decided that the event would be catered. The caterers would then take on any liability for any problems.

Lisa Genson then presented sign-up sheets for Committee Chairs. The Food Committee Chair will be Lenora Riddle. The food Committee will have doors opened to them at 6:00 to prepare. The Decorating Committee will be headed by Tanya Conner, Lisa Powell and Christi Holloway.  Mrs. Jolly would like to use silver and black. Silver and black balloons will be used. Chris Able mentioned that a helium tank could be rented and that silhouettes would be nice. It was decided also that the decorating team could begin around 2:00 pm. We will rent or borrow white linen table cloths or use white disposable table cloths.

Holley Yochel will be in charge of the 50/50 raffle. A table outside the cafeteria will be set up for this.

It was mentioned by several members that they would like Coffee House to be videoed.  Mrs. Jolly mentioned that maybe she could get a student to do it. It was not voted on but the demeanor of the group seemed unanimous that Rice Video was too expensive.

Pam Thompson will be responsible for getting a list of Volunteers to the Committee Chairs.

Uniforms for Coffee House

Mrs. Jolly gave a brief overview about the kid’s uniforms for Coffee House. She said that the uniforms must be paid in full by October 30th and that she was not sure they would be in for Coffee House but that she was hopeful. They should be in by the Winter Concert on December 14th. Mrs. Jolly said that she would let the kids know what they should wear for Coffee House. T-shirts for casual events was briefly mentioned but no decisions were made about when these would be done. Hoodies for Freshman Singers, Advanced Chorus and Show Choir will be optional.

Spring Trip

Currently there are 77 students signed up to go and 17 adults. 37 of these students are from the drama class. There will be three chartered buses. The students will sing in the Cathedral. It should take about 15 to 20 minutes. The attire will be  dressy/casual. The next payment is due on October 23rd. The cost for Adult Chaperones is $530. Mrs. Ling asked about the time of travel. Travel will be at night and once there we will go our rooms for about 20 minutes and then back out. Chris Able asked whether the time out of school would be approved. Mrs. Jolly stated that the time missed from school was approved but the students needed to let their teachers know in advanced.
