January 8th Booster Club Meeting

Attendance: Gina Jolly, Sharon Woolbright, Nancy Poston, Carol Hopkins, Rhonda Flowe, Pam Thompson, Debbie Tharpe, Lisa Genson and Marcia Young

The meeting began with a discussion about Donut Sales and Marcia gave everyone a copy of the budget along with an overview. Donut pre-sale forms were available at the meeting for each parent at the meeting. The sale ends on January 22nd. Delivery will be on January 25th. Donuts need to be picked up between 3:30 and 5:00 pm in the choral room. There was some discussion about doing the donut sale monthly since it was an easy way for the kids to raise money. No definite decision was made.

The next topic of discussion was Dinner Theatre. A Love Theme was discussed because it fit in with the spring season and the romance theme that Mrs. Jolly stated that she would like to have. Mrs. Jolly said that there were many good songs for this theme. It was mentioned that we definitely needed to come up with a tentative theme since Dinner Theatre would soon be here.  Discussion about a caterer was the next subject.  Pam Thompson agreed to check on prices from Capri’s restaurant and Rhonda agreed to check with Gatewood. Having Dinner Theatre at a different location was also discussed   It was mentioned that it is hard to see all the students perform in the cafeteria and also very crowded for those who buy tickets. Lisa Genson volunteered to check on the Civic Center and various others were going to check on some church Fellowship Halls for enough room and pricing. First Baptist, South Main Street Baptist, Main Street Methodist and North Side Baptist were mentioned.  It was decided that Dinner Theatre would be March 1st.  A few committees to also take care of decorations, etc. will be needed.

Lisa then said that we needed to talk about the NYC trip. Mrs. Jolly said that kids and parents should start signing up next week for room assignments. Parents can send their request to Mrs. Jolly but they need to be sent as soon as possible. There are currently three charter busses from Savanah River Charter reserved. There is one tour guide to each bus. All students need to be sure and get accounts caught up.

Another important date is Region Chorus hosted at Thornwell on January 18th and 19th at 7:00pm. The kids will be out of school all day on Friday.
