GHS Choral Booster Minutes

 

In attendance for the October meeting were Gina Jolly, Kris Abell, Lisa Genson, Marcia Young, Debbie Tharpe, Cecille Davis and Lori Cooper, Angela Morgan, Carol Hopkins, Sharon Woolbright, Tanya Conner and Rhonda Flowe.

 

  • Mrs. Jolly opened up the meeting by passing out volunteer forms which need to be completed for the school district by all parent volunteers. 
  • The minutes from the last meeting were distributed, read and Marcia Young made a motion to approve the minutes; Sharon Woolbright made a second – motion approved.

Coffee House

Rhonda Flowe reported that the location of Coffee House would be at Westside Baptist Church, November 8th at 7pm.  Volunteers will be called to help set up tables Wednesday night after 7 pm.  Caterers were narrowed down to 2 possibilities:  1) Swartzentrubers -                    $ 2.75 pp plus tax and gratuity; includes coffee, we pick 3 desserts; price includes everything but napkins. 2)  TW Boones - $ 4.00 pp coffee, tea, all paper products and 3 desserts.

 

Ticket sales – price will be $7 per person and the theme will be “Disney”.  There will also be a video table, pine straw table and a blood drive table. 

 

Financial Report:

Marcia Young gave a budget report and a financial statement was presented to each member.  To date, we currently have 31 booster members.  Marcia asked each member to put under the memo section of all checks turned in to her what account the check should be designated for. 

Marcia also explained the various membership levels and the benefits of being a booster club member.

 

Fundraising

Debbie Tharpe discussed the following fundraisers:

  • Pine straw sales –Oct 19th will be the first $$ collection date; November 2nd will be the 2nd  $$ collection date and November 9th will be the final $$ turn in date.   Pine straw Pick-up dates will be November 17th – November 24th at Hobby and Garden.  Please note that many volunteers will be needed that Saturday, November 17th to help unload the truck at Hobby and Garden for our group’s pine straw.  The pine straw is “Loblolly” and is 6-8” long.  Each student will receive a credit of $1.55 per bale.
  • Candles – Home Interior candle sales will begin directly after Pine straw sales (November 13th) and will be delivered to us in time for Christmas.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Spring Trip

The spring trip will be to Chicago and will be hosted by Junior Tours.  Cost will be approximately $699 and includes bus, hotel, 2 meals per day and some cultural events.  Upon approval for the district, the dates will be May 22nd – May 25th.  Two days of school will be missed by the students.

New Business

  • All State – 21 students will be auditioning.
  • Winter and Christmas Concert will be Dec 17th

 

The next Booster Club meeting will be Tuesday, November 13th in the Choral Room.
