In May, the dance team held a 3-day “clinic” for girls in grades 3rd-7th.  The camp was held at GHS and turned out to be a great success.  Plans are underway for another camp this year.

The dance team attended a 4-day camp at Clemson University in June.  Instructors from the Universal Dance Association taught the team several routines along with technique classes and team building activities.  The Groove left camp with two superior awards for their routine evaluations and superior drill down abilities, and a 110% award voted on by fellow campers.

Three seniors were chosen as All Stars:  Cristin May, Stacie Vaughn, and Emme Yeargin.  GHS was the only team with more than one member chosen to be an All Star!  The team was also invited to compete at UDA Nationals in Orlando, Florida, and was invited to perform in the Orange Bowl Halftime performance in Miami.

Practice for the GHS Groove Competition Team will begin in September.  The team will begin work with a choreographer on their routine dance that they will use when they compete in the coming months.  The team will begin regular season practice in the winter, and then will perform at all boys and girls home varsity basketball games.
